Danfoss Editron electric drive systems are specifically designed for controlling hybrid and electric powertrains in vehicles, machinery, and marine applications. The converters are tailored for use in electric or hybrid drivetrains found in mobile work equipment, buses, port cranes, or ships.
Converters with a power range of 100–1,000 kW
The EC-C variable frequency drive comes in two models, each designed for different system voltage levels: the EC-C1200-450 and the EC-C1700B-420. The EC-C1200-450 is suitable for voltage ratings up to 850VDC/500VAC, while the EC-C1700B-420 handles up to 1200VDC/690VAC. Compared to components used in standard industrial inverters, the EC-C drive employs parts that can withstand twice as many load cycles. Additionally, EC-C products boast a robust service life of up to 20 years. Thanks to Danfoss’ advanced vector control technology, the EC-C delivers precise and smooth motor operation—capable of controlling both induction motors (IM) and permanent magnet motors (PM).
Additionally, the Danfoss Sensor-Resistive Permanent Magnet (SRPM) motor is available either with or without a sensor. The EC-C series offers several customizable software options. This versatility allows the EC-C1200-450 to serve as an active front end, microgrid solution, or motor control inverter—and when paired with the EC-LTS1200-410, it can even function as a DC-DC converter. Meanwhile, the EC-C1700B-420 supports active front ends, microgrids, and motor control inverters, but it does not accommodate DC-DC conversion applications.
