In April 2018, the 25 major excavator manufacturers included in the statistics sold over 26,500 excavators of various types, representing an 85% year-on-year increase. From January to April, cumulative excavator sales reached more than 86,600 units, up 58% compared to the same period last year. Both April's sales and the first four months' total sales marked the second-highest levels on record for the same period, underscoring the industry's continued strong growth momentum.

Looking at regional sales performance, Henan Province delivered a standout showing in April, surpassing Shandong and Jiangsu to claim the top spot in regional sales with a total of 1,870 units sold. Shandong followed closely with 1,810 units, while Jiangsu rounded out the top three at 1,740 units. Overall, 11 provinces recorded monthly sales exceeding 1,000 units. Meanwhile, for the first four months combined, the top five provinces in cumulative sales were Jiangsu, Shandong, Sichuan, Henan, and Anhui, in that order.
In April, excavator exports reached 1,518 units, doubling year-on-year. For the first four months combined, cumulative excavator exports totaled 5,649 units, representing a 106% increase compared to the same period last year.

In the first four months, exports of small, medium, and large excavators reached approximately 1,700 units, 2,800 units, and 1,100 units, respectively. Notably, more than 2,200 units were exported in the 19.5 < a ≤ 24.9 price range, accounting for nearly 40% of the total export volume.
Looking at the sales performance of individual models, Sany and XCMG swept the top five spots, with Sany leading the way. SY75C -10 units sold 1,450 units.
