The Sunan Riverside Railway with a design speed of 350 kilometers per hour starts at Nanjing South Railway Station, passes through Nanjing, Jurong City, Changzhou City, Jiangyin City, Zhangjiagang City, Changshu City, and Taicang City. After being introduced into Taicang Station, the Shanghai-Shanghai Railway will be used to enter the Shanghai hub.

What is interesting is that there are 9 passenger stations on this high-speed rail line, namely Nanjing South Railway Station, Jiangning Station, Jurong Station, Jintan Station, Wujin Station, Jiangyin Station, Zhangjiagang Station, Changshu Station, and Taicang Station. Among them, Jiangning Station will be rebuilt with the existing Nanjing-Hangzhou Passenger Dedicated Line. New Jurong Station, Jintan Station and Wujin Station will be built, Jiangyin Station will be built with the existing Xinchang Railway, Zhangjiagang Station, Changshu Station and Taicang Station will be built with the Shanghai-Hangzhou Railway.

The railway along the Yangtze River in southern Jiangsu is planned to pass through one of the areas with the densest cities, a high degree of urban-rural integration and a good foundation for economic and social development in our province and the Yangtze River Delta, and it is also the second intercity railway of the Shanghai channel. Among them, Jiangyin, Zhangjiagang, Changshu and Taicang, which have not yet opened high-speed rail, rank among the top 10 counties (cities) in the country.

This high-speed railway is also a "flying railway in the air" mainly connected by a super-large bridge and a large-medium bridge. A total of 42 extra-large and large-medium bridges have been built on the main line, with a total length of 264.8 kilometers, accounting for 95% of the total length of the main line. It also includes a 850-meter-long single-hole double-track tunnel.

After the completion of the railway along the Yangtze River in southern Jiangsu, all EMUs will be in operation, with a departure interval of only about 3 minutes. So, where will passengers traveling from Nanjing to Jiangyin and Zhangjiagang along the way travel in the future? According to the previously announced EIA announcement, the line of the South Jiangsu River Railway will be introduced into Nanjing South Station Ning'an Yard, which is the platform on the south side, and will be connected to Shanghai Hanrong Yard 2 arrival and departure lines through the Ning'an Shanghai-Chengdu connection line, and the overall scale of Nanjing South Station will remain unchanged. After the line is drawn from Nanjing South Railway Station, it will cross Shuanglong Avenue, Qinhuai River and Nanjing-Hangzhou Passenger Dedicated Line successively, and set up a station in parallel with Jiangning Station of Nanjing-Hangzhou High-speed Railway. The line wiring is located between the existing Nanjing-Hangzhou High-speed Railway and Nanjing-Hangzhou Expressway.

Residents along the way to Pudong can take the high-speed rail directly to Pudong in the future.

Since the southern Jiangsu riverside railway will use the Shanghai-to-pass railway under construction in Taicang to enter the Shanghai hub, and the second phase of the Shanghai-to-pass railway is planned to be directly introduced into Pudong, residents along the southern Jiangsu riverside railway will have to go to Pudong Airport or Shanghai Disneyland in the future, and it is entirely possible to take the high-speed railway to reach it directly.

As the second intercity railway of Shanghai-Nanjing Corridor, the railway along the Yangtze River in southern Jiangsu will play the auxiliary passenger channel function of Shanghai-Nanjing Corridor in the future, mainly responsible for the intercity passenger flow along the corridor and between the main axis of Shanghai and Nanjing, as well as the intercity passenger flow between Pudong area and Nanjing and Zhenjiang, undertaking the long-distance cross-line passenger flow along the project and the Pudong area and the central and southwest regions has become an important support for driving the development of urbanization, industrial optimization and upgrading, and promoting the development of tourism resources along the line. It will also cooperate with the Beijing-Shanghai high-speed railway, the Shanghai-Nanjing intercity railway, The North Yanjiang High-speed Railway constitutes a large-capacity passenger transport channel radiating westward from the Yangtze River Delta.
