On June 5, it was announced at the Huangshi City Investment and Major Project Promotion Conference that construction of the Huangshi section of the Wuhan-Yangxin Expressway will begin this August, with a total investment of 12.6 billion yuan. According to the introduction, the project starts at Nanlianshan, east of Dongfeng Farm in Daye City (on the border between Ezhou and Huangshi) and ends at the Hubei-Jiangxi provincial boundary (at the junction of Yangxin County and Ruichang City). It will connect seamlessly with the planned Wuning-Yangxin (Jiangxi-Hubei border) Expressway in Jiangxi Province. The proposed route runs roughly from northwest to southeast, with a total length of approximately 91 kilometers—of which 51.34 kilometers lie within Daye City and 39.67 kilometers are in Yangxin County.

According to reports, the project originates in Daye City. Dongfeng Located east of Nalian Mountain in the southern part of the farm (at the border between Ezhou and Huangshi), the route extends to the Hubei-Jiangxi provincial boundary (near the junction of Yangxin County and Ruichang City), where it will connect with the planned Jiangxi Wuning–Yangxin (Jiangxi-Hubei Border) Expressway. Overall, the proposed alignment runs roughly from northwest to southeast, with a total length of approximately 91 kilometers—of which 51.34 kilometers lie within Daye City and 39.67 kilometers are in Yangxin County.
According to reports, the project is being developed under a BOT investment and construction model, with a total investment of 12.6 billion yuan—this includes an 800-million-yuan investment in the Yangxin South interchange connector line—and an average construction cost of 138 million yuan per kilometer. Yangtze River One of the key projects under the "Midstream City Cluster Development Plan," this project is the 6th radial highway among Wuhan's 14 radial routes that form part of the province's "Nine Vertical, Five Horizontal, and Three Ring" expressway network—and it also ranks as a major construction project during the province's 13th Five-Year Plan period.
This year, Huangshi has been focusing on developing and improving transportation infrastructure as well as social and public welfare projects, with planned investments totaling 33.2 billion yuan. These funds will support seven major transportation infrastructure projects: the Huangshi section of the Wuhan-Yangxin Expressway, Phase II of the Qipanzhou Port Area project, the Huangshi-Wuhan Grade-I Highway, the reconstruction of Provincial Road S315 Hejin, the Yangtze River Avenue (S203), the renovation of the Huangshi Shannan Local Railway, and the construction of the Huangshi General Aviation Airport.
